How it Works

True You Retreats for Individuals are expert-led therapeutic wellness gatherings that offer a unique blend of personal healing and growth.

We provide a safe, fully confidential, non-judgmental, and no-pressure space for you to slow down and focus inward on whatever matters to you, in a supportive circle of peers.

Each retreat consists of four in-person gatherings in a comfortable professional setting in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In the summer, True You circles are also incorporated into extended weekend retreats at magical North Point Retreat north of Kenora, Ontario.

The gatherings are structured, and intentionally designed to provide optimal conditions and tools for your journey of self-exploration. They are slow-paced, relaxing, and emotionally evocative. You are guided through mindful exercises, group processes, journaling reflections, and sharing opportunities to help you deepen your connection with yourself, attend to that which needs most attention, gain deeper insight into your emotional and thought patterns, embrace yourself as you are, and reflect on your personal journey.

These retreats also aim to foster the growth of a community that nurtures mutual care and recognition, providing an antidote to the isolation so often experienced in our increasingly digital world.

Your degree of participation in any exercises, reflections, or sharing is entirely up to you. There is no pressure whatsoever to share or participate in anything. We encourage you throughout to stay attuned to your own needs, desires, and comfort.

While sharing is one component of these structured gatherings, the opportunities to support any one individual in their personal process are limited. You will be encouraged to use your personal resources, such as personal reflections, journaling, and post-retreat integration, to create continuity for your emotional process.

Because of the possibility of accessing difficult emotions, it is important that you have good skills in self-regulation, and the ability to manage emotional discomfort.

These gatherings are not suitable for people who have significant problems regulating their emotions. This includes severe destabilizing anxiety or trauma responses, problems controlling anger, tendencies for interpersonal conflict, active suicidal ideation, or strong dissociative tendencies. If you struggle with these difficulties, participating in these groups can not only destabilize the group, but also cause you psychological harm or increase your risk of harm to self or others.

For more detailed information, please read Our Guiding Principles section on this website.

We invite you to give yourself the gift of attention and care.

Cabins and Amenities…

North Point Retreat has been designed for optimal comfort in a minimal space. Hence, some bedrooms (our three microcabins) are very small, yet designed in a way that you can comfortably spend a long time there, with cozy beds, desks, and spacious views. All bedrooms have brand-new hotel-quality mattresses and bedding, ample storage, and double sound-proof walls. All bedrooms, but one, have spectacular views. All cabins have space heaters, except the microcabins as they are very small and well-insulated. All bedrooms have blinds for restful sleep. The island has cellphone reception.

RESTRICTIONS!!! Please bring slippers or crocks as all indoor spaces are shoe-free. Unfortunately, because of dangerous cliffs, potential waves, and the ruggedness of the terrain, we are unable to accommodate children under 16. Also, since some people have pet allergies, we are unfortunately unable to welcome any pets.

RAW NATURE WARNING!!! The island’s paths and cliffs are in their original wild state, so ability, balance, and caution are required to navigate this ancient terrain. Your safety is your responsibility. Direct exposure to the elements means that sometimes winds are high and waves are wild. We spray the island with a natural garlic repellant, but there are still periods when bugs are bad. Moreover, because of the absence of light pollution, the milky way might overwhelm you with its beauty. And the northern lights, which frequently make an appearance, might make you want to stay up late into the night.
